Adam married Rachel Willson on 2 or 5 February 1832 (the 2nd may have been the bond. She died in 1853 and almost 3 years later, he married Julia E. Dooling (Doling) on 29 Jul 1856. (Note they did not have a daughter named Jane Eliza, as that was the Adam McChesney who died in 1811, per his will.) No known children. She was not listed in the death register source below.
Adam's father Robert died on 12 Feb 1842 and sadly willed: to son Adam: Nelson, Anderson and Daniel, Maria, her kids Eliza and Ann on his property. His brother James would die 6 months later and his mother Elizabeth died 6 years later on 14 Nov 1848.
On the 1850 District 2 1/2, Augusta Co., VA census, I found farmer Adam McChesney, 42 and Rachael McChesney, 35, both VA born.
On the 1860 District 1, Augusta Co., VA census, I found farmer Adam McChesney, 52, with $16,860. in real estate and $9,220 in personal property; Julia E McChesney, 28 and in school Wm P Dolin (possible kin of his wife?), 11, all VA born.
On the 1880 Walkers Creek, Rockbridge Co., VA census, I found farmer Adam McChesney, 74 wife Julia E McChesney, 45, all VA born.
21 Nov 1884, Adam wrote his will, which was probated 6 Jul 1891 in Rockbridge Co., VA, will book 27, p 373.
Adam dies in 1891. He is not listed in the Abstracts of Augusta Co., VA Death Registers 1853 - 1896, by Margaret C Reese, 1983. Only a younger Adam, who died 13 Apr 1885, aged 28 or born about 1857, a white male, line S85-45.
His wife, Rachel is listed on the other side of their shared monument.
