He was the son of Jacob and Maria Elizabeth (Marillas) Fisher Sell. He was baptized at Christ Reformed Church, Littlestown, PA on June 29, 1788. His father, an up an coming merchant, moved to Gettysburg about 1799. As a young boy Henry lived in a large house [still standing] on the square in Gettysburg, which his father built in 1801. Henry married Anna Mary Ebert, of West Manchester Township, York County, PA, on September 13, 1818 in Harrisburg, PA. They moved to York. Henry and his brother John operated a store in Hanover, PA for about 10 years beginning in 1828. Henry returned to Gettysburg where he lived for the remainder of his life. After Henry's death Mary moved to Springfield, IL with her two youngest children.
