Miss Sell was born in Hanover, Pa., and when a young girl the family moved to Gettysburg. Later they removed to Illinois, settling on North Fifth street, this city. That was in 1857 and since then Miss Sell with her other sisters had resided continuously on that street, moving only once and then to the present residence, which is one block south of the original home.
Upon her arrival here Miss Sell joined the Grace Lutheran church, which then stood on the corner of Sixth and Madison streets, after the new edifice was built on the present site she became a regular attendant there. For fifteen years Miss Sell taught in the Industrial school, giving her last lessons when the sessions were held in the Odd Fellows temple. She was a member of the Soldiers' Aid society.
Surviving Miss Sell are one brother, Walter E. Sell of Berkley, Cal.; three sisters, Clementine E. and Mary J. Sell of this city, and Mrs. Conrad Kuhl of Canyon City, Colo.; and one nephew, Dr. E.A. Sell of this city.
The funeral will be held at 10:15 o'clock Saturday morning at the residence. The service will be conducted by Rev. J. M. Francis, pastor of the Grace Lutheran church, of which she was a member. The interment will be made in Oak Ridge cemetery.
