Isabella was the daughter of Elisha 'Lash' Walls and Elizabeth Carnahan Walls, of Clarion Co., Pa. Her mother died before 1850. Isabella married John McAninch in 1845.

Her father, Lash, went on to remarry Rebecca Davis and had many children. The children of Lash and Elizabeth were split up.
Isabella was grown and she took in her brother, Chester Morrison Walls. He is shown living with John and Isabella McAninch in 1850. He was 15.

John and Isabella listed the occupation as farmer and resided in Madison Twp., Clarion CO., PA. The 1900 census shows Isabella, age 69, married 55 years, and mother of 11 children, 8 living.
