Funeral services were Wednesday, May 21, at the M.E. Church in Clarence, with Rev. M.J. Lockes officiating. Burial will be in the Clarence Cemetery, Clarence, Iowa.
Flora Esther Gardner was born February 15, 1868, in Carroll County, Illinois, near Lanark, the daughter of Samuel and Esther (Heth) Gardner. The family moved to a farm in Cedar County Northwest of Clarence in 1876. She married Thomas Jefferson Haynes on January 8, 1889. Together they farmed in Cedar County, until they moved to a farm seven miles south Tipton in 1900.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas; two sons; three daughters; her mother; two sisters; and four brothers.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
