Samuel P. Haynes, 67, Astoria, Ore., a native of Rochester, died recently following a heart attack. Burial was in the military cemetery at Salem, Oregon.
Mr. Haynes and his wife were in an auto accident in which she received a severe back injury. His death came a short time after the accident.
The son of Thomas J. and FLora E. Haynes, he was born in Rochester. He served in the Marines in World War I and later was a policeman in Eureka, Calif.
He is survived by his wife, Erlaine; a son, Lee; a daughter, Mrs. Mae Terry; 2 sisters, Mrs. Grace Powers, Yankton, S.D. and Mrs. Ione Carmon, Muscatine and 7 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Mrs. Esther Loomis, Tipton
