Thomas W. Swafford Sr., 82, died May 6, 2005, at Hutchinson Hospital.
He was born Nov. 11, 1922, at Manchester, Okla., the son of Thomas J. and Lola Billingsley Swafford. He graduated from Anthony High School and attended Hutchinson Community College. A resident of Hutchinson since 1954, he was a meat department manager for 45 years until retiring and then worked at Sirloin Stockade for the past 12 years.
He belonged to the First Christian Church. U.S. Army Air Corps WWII, obtaining the rank of Sergeant and received the European African Middle Eastern Service Medal, three Bronze Stars and the Good Conduct Medal.

On Dec. 6, 1945, he married Margaret Carden at Chatsworth, Ga. She survives.

Other survivors include: a son, Thomas W. Jr., Hutchinson; two daughters, Sandy White and her husband, Ed, Hutchinson; and Bonnie Tapia and her husband, Mike, Santa Fe, N.M.; a brother, Bob and his wife, Fauntell, Emporia; a sister, Jennie Natoli and her husband, Rocco, Allen; and four grandchildren, Jennifer White, Jeff White, Lacy Stucky and her husband, Jeremy, and Danielle Bright.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, two sisters and two grandchildren, Lindsey and Clinton Swafford.

Burial will be in Fairlawn Burial Park.
