Margaret graduated from Spring City High School, Spring City, Tenn., in 1941. She was a homemaker, a member of the First Christian Church, and Christian Women's Fellowship.
On Dec. 6, 1945, Margaret married Thomas Willard Swafford in Chatsworth, Ga. He died May 6, 2005.
Survivors include: daughters, Sandra White and husband Ed of Hutchinson, Bonnie Tapia and husband Mike of Santa Fe, NM; grandchildren, Jennifer White of Olathe, Jeff White and wife Caroline of Manhattan, Kan., Lacy Stucky and husband Jeremy of Moundridge, Danielle Bell and husband Brodie of Santa Fe, NM; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Louise Caldwell of Warner Robins, Ga.; brothers, John Carden and wife Mary of Polk City, Fla., Luther Carden and wife Joyce of Winchester, Va.; brother-in-law, Eddie Martin of Warner Robins, Fla.
She was preceded in death by her parents; son, Thomas Swafford, Jr.; sisters, Emma Martin, Orena Reeves; grandchildren, Lindsey and Clinton Swafford.
Funeral service will be 10 a.m. Thursday, May 26, 2016, at Elliott Mortuary Chapel, Hutchinson, with the Reverend Dr. Kim Biery presiding.
Burial will follow in Fairlawn Burial Park, Hutchinson.
Friends may call from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. with the family to receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at Elliott Mortuary.
