Henry Jackson McGlothlin Jr., 84, of West Raven, Va., died Tuesday morning at his home after an apparent heart attack.
Born in Russell County, Va., he was a son of the late Henry Jackson and Emily Richardson McGlothlin. A lifelong resident of the Raven area, he had been employed as a section man of Norfolk and Western Railway for 40 years, retiring in 1955.

He served in the U.S. Army and was a veteran of World War I. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

He was preceded in death by four sisters and four brothers.
Survivors include a niece, Emily Lou VanDyke, who lived at the McGlothlin residence for the past 53 years; and additional nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday at 2 p.m. at the Hurst-Scot Funeral Chapel in Richlands, Va., with Rev. Grat Horton and Rev. Ancil Childress officiating. Burial will follow in Green Hills Memory Gardens at Claypool Hill, Va.

Pallbearers will be John Hagy Jr., Bill VanDyke, Joe E. Jackson, H.G. Osborne, B.J. Martin, Bill Forrest, Charlie Jessee and Milton Simmons.
Friends may call at the funeral home.
