He was born November 10, 1921, in Menomonie, Wis., to Louie and Olga (Moe) Fisher, and had lived in Menomonie all of his life. He served in the U.S. Naval Coast Guard from 1942 to 1946. On June 10, 1951, Hub married Lois Forehand at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie.
Hub was an active member of the community. As a longtime member and past president of the Menomonie Lions Club from 1975 to 1976, he was instrumental in developing the Game Park. He was a founding member of the Menomonie Packer Backer Club. Starting as his son Jim's Little League baseball coach, he was a fan forever of Menomonie athletics.
Hub was a faithful member of Peace Lutheran Church for more than 50 years. His passions in life were his family, friends, faith and football.
Hub was a highly regarded master bricklayer and stone mason, whose work can be seen throughout the area.
Hub is survived by His bride of 56 summers, love of his life and best friend, Lois; and further survived by his beloved children, Deborah Fisher of Menomonie, Nancy (Gary) Marine of Eau Claire, Jim (Lisa) Fisher of Oswego, Ill., Sally (Kelly) Gates of Menomonie; 10 grandchildren, Sara (Justin) Hewitt, Shawn Fisher, Jennifer, Christina and James Gates, Cami, Emilee, Jimmy, Hallie and Lexi Fisher; two great-grandchildren, Kailee Broeckert and Caden Fisher; a brother, Allen Fisher (Faye), of Menomonie; he is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives; friends, and his faithful, furry companion, Molly.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters Delores (Ralph) White, Alice (Bill) Meyers and Connie Fox; a granddaughter, Emily VanBakel; and best buddies, Bob, Barry and Bill.
Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 27, 2007, at Peace Lutheran Church in Menomonie, with Pastor David Whelan officiating. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Menomonie, with military honors by the Menomonie Veterans Honor Guard. Family and friends are welcome from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday at Olson Funeral Home in Menomonie, and at the church one hour prior to the service on Saturday.
