Laurence served as a Sergeant & Radio Operator on B-24J #42-110153, 858th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Los Angeles County, California prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army on December 20, 1942 in Los Angeles, California. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Guard and also as Married.

Laurence was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, while on a mission to Brunswick, Germany, were attacked by German fighters and crashed near Erichshagen, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

His remains were found in 2002 and he was repatriated here on November 18, 2002.
