Marshall served as a Sergeant & Right Waist Gunner on B-24J #42-110153, 858th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Illinois prior to the war.

Marshall was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, while on a mission to Brunswick, Germany, were attacked by German fighters and crashed near Erichshagen, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

His remains were found in 2002 and he was repatriated here on November 18, 2002.
