Joseph served as a Staff Sergeant & Top Turret Gunner on B-24J #42-110153, 858th Bomber Squadron, 492nd Bomber Group, U.S. Army Air Force during World War II.

He resided in Bexar County, Texas prior to the war.

He enlisted in the Army Air Corps on October 15, 1942 in San Antonio, Texas. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being employed as a Salesperson and also as Married.

Joseph was "Killed In Action" when his B-24, while on a mission to Brunswick, Germany, were attacked by German fighters and crashed near Erichshagen, Germany during the war. He was awarded the Purple Heart.

His remains were found in 2002 and he was repatriated here on November 18, 2002.
