Hays -- Catherine Schumacher, 80, died Nov. 7, 1999, at her home. She was born June 27, 1919, at Hays, the daughter of Anton and Rosa Maska Arnhold.

A Hays resident, she worked at Wiesner's Department Store, Hays. She was a lifelong Catholic.

In April 1943, she married Julius Schumacher at Hays. He died March 4, 1974.

Survivors include: a son, Tony, Hays; a daughter, Juleen Stecklein, Hays; two brothers, Richard and Lawrence Arnhold, both of Hays; two sisters, Theresa Obholz and Eleanor Younker, both of Hays; six grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death two brothers, Ed and Wendelin; and three sisters, Virginia Leiker, Pauline Leiker and Clara Augustine.

Funeral will be at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. Nicholas of Myra Catholic Church, Hays, with Fathers Mike Scully, Earl Befort and Bill Surmeier presiding. Friends may call from 1 to 8 p.m. today and 8 a.m. until service time Wednesday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home. Burial will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Hays.

Memorials may be sent to Thomas Moore Prep-Marian High School in care of the funeral home.
