She was one of seven children: John Robert Service (1873-1894), James Roland Service (1874-1958), Rachel Agnes Service Meeks (1877-1952), Lillian Service Taylor (1883-1980), Ruth Isabelle Service Muse (1886-1963) and Samuel Grover Service (1887-1978).
Mamie Estelle Service married John E. McCauley, son of Alexander S. and Caroline McCauley from Bates, Greenville County, SC. Their wedding was held at the Limestone Presbyterian Church in Gaffney, SC.
Soon after the wedding they moved to Travelers Rest, SC. There they started a family which included:

Sarah Gladys McCauley Jamison (1904 – 1996)
