Mamie Estelle Service McCauley was born on the 30th day of July, 1877, the daughter of Robert Forest Service and Lula Barnhill Service of Gaffney, South Carolina. She was one of seven children: John Robert Service (1873-1894), James Roland Service (1874-1958), Rachel Agnes Service Meeks (1877-1952), Lillian Service Taylor (1883-1980), Ruth Isabelle Service Muse (1886-1963) and Samuel Grover Service (1887-1978).

Mamie Estelle Service married John E. McCauley, son of Alexander S. and Caroline McCauley from Bates, Greenville County, SC. Their wedding was held at the Limestone Presbyterian Church in Gaffney, SC.

Soon after the wedding they moved to Travelers Rest, SC. There they started a family which included:
James Raymond McCauley (1903– 1975)
Sarah Gladys McCauley Jamison (1904 – 1996)
Broadus McCauley (1906 – 1979)
Faye McCauley Baughman (1911 – 1988)
Robert Forest McCauley (1913 – 2000)
Paul Samuel McCauley (1915 – 2010)

Great-Aunt Mamie departed this life on November 4th, 1962 at her home. She is buried beside her beloved husband, John E. McCauley.

Note: Mamie's tombstone is incorrect about her birth year. She was born in 1877 and the twin sister of Rachel Agnes [Service] Meeks.
