He was born in Helena on 12/21/1915, the son of Barney F. and Mary McCarthy Lantry. He was graduated from Massena High School and was a customs officer at the Cornwall-Roosevelt International vehicle and railroad Bridge. He entered the Army on 4/3/1941 and served in the European Theater and was wounded in Bastone. He was awarded the bronze medal and the Purple Heart. Following his tour of duty, he was honorably discharged in Sept. 1945. Upon returning home from service, his father having retired, he managed the family farm on Route. 37-C and has operated the farm ever since. He underwent open heart surgery in Oct. 1968 at the Albany Medical Center. He and Miss Helen Kelley, who was a teacher in the Twin Rivers Elementary School, were married July 31, 1948. He was a fourth degree member of the St. Lawrence Council, Knights of Columbus and the American Legion. He also served as a member of the St. Lawrence County Conservation Committee and was still active with that group. He was also chairman of the Brasher Democrat Town Committee.
Surviving are his widow; three sons, Barney V., a teacher at St. Alban's, VT; James A. employed by Sealtest Co. in Rochester; Henry T. employed as an investigator for the State prosecutors office in Syracuse; three, daughters, Mrs. George (Mary E.) Hutchens, Marlton, NJ; Miss Kathleen Lantry, a student at the Plattsburgh State University College, and Miss Helene Lantry, a student at St. Lawrence Central: two grandchildren; three sisters, Mrs. Roderick J. (Nancy) Mahoney and Mrs. Robert (Kathryn) Derouchie, both of Helena; Mrs. Roy (Patricia) Barstown, Potsdam. A brother, Jerry predeceased him in 1975. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Burial was made in St. Patrick cemetery in Brasher Falls.
