Alma a daughter of Amory Gale Oliver and Lucretia (Vance) of Burnet and later Lampasas, TX. She was born in a covered wagon while the family was leaving Wisconsin for California, along with 30-40 other families. Her father bought land in Petaluma, CA where he raised cattle and fruit, and the children received early education.

In 1876 her father travelled to TX in search of better ranching land, making Burnet Cty. their new home. He and his oldest son built a homestead, and in early 1877 Alma arrived with her mother and other siblings via train and stage coach to their new home near Strickling.

She married Dr. Thomas Batsell Moore of KY on November 17, 1881 in Burnet, TX, a pharmacist at the time in Williamson Cty., TX. After their marriage, Alma and Thomas resided in MO, where he was a pharmacist and three of their daughters were born. By 1892 they moved to Joppa, Burnet Cty., TX where their son, Amory, was born. By the late 1890s they resided briefly in Alta Loma, TX where Thomas had a drugstore and their son Arthur was born.

Family believes their intention was to head to CA where Alma had lived with her family several years and she had enjoyed that part of the country. But they resided briefly in Tucumcari, NM where in 1901 in Tucumcari Alma gave birth to a son, becoming ill afterwards and travelled to her parents in Lampasas, TX where she died; her young son died a few months later. Thomas moved on to CA while the children were left with family in TX and MO; Thomas was never heard from again; the children were raised by family.

Children of Alma (Oliver) and Thomas Moore:

Caroline Mary "Carrie Mae" (Moore) Weatherton (1887-1966)
