My second great uncle, John, was the son of William Henry Arnold, Sr. and Mary "Polly" SHOCKLEY Arnold and the brother and brother-in-law of William Henry Arnold, Jr. and, his wife, Malissa Ann COBLER Arnold, my great grandparents.

His grandparents were Thompson Arnold and Susannah HOLLAND Arnold and maternal grandparents, Benjamin Holland and Alice BENSON Holland.

He married his wife, Louisa WRAY, on Dec. 7, 1862 in Shelby County, Indiana. They, eventually, migrated to Missouri and were farmers by occupation. She preceded him in death.

Uncle John was a veteran of the Civil War having fought for the North.

He died just short of his 87th birthday of chronic myocarditis. He was much loved and missed by his many friends and family, including his only son, George L. Arnold.
