Private Company H. 54th Indiana Infantry mustered in on September 8, 1862.

Thompson Arnold was named for his grandfather. He was the son of William Henry Arnold, Sr. and Mary "Polly" SHOCKLEY Arnold and the grandson of Thompson Arnold and Susanna HOLLAND Arnold.

He was married to Britta Ann WHEELER on September 11, 1870.

He was a prosperous farmer, age 76, who died at his home in Moral Twp. Funeral services were held at the East Union Church.

Besides his widow, he was survived by his six children, Alvin, Ida, Mary C., Sarah E., who was called Katie, Charles Edward, and Clarence and by many other family members and friends.

Thompson was much loved and missed by his family and all who knew him.
