That they be not forgotten, my goal in genealogical research has been and will be, to honor the deceased and serve the living, quality over quantity, fact over fiction, accuracy over assumption.
According to Find A Grave rules, I'll be glad to transfer a memorial to your care.
Out of respect for the deceased and their survivors, please DO NOT upload death certificates to memorials I have created or, if I may implore you, to any memorial. These certificates contain a cause of death which is very personal and private medical information. In some circumstances, the cause of death may be embarrassing to the family or cause those still living to yet again recall details of a tragic event.
Regarding death locations, because a deceased was a resident of a particular city, town, or county do not assume the person died there! Unless you have firsthand knowledge, a death certificate, or other primary evidence confirming the place of death, or the obituary specifically gives one, please do not assume or request the residence as the death location.
I concur with a number of contributors that a major cause of duplicate memorials is changing the first name on a memorial to differ from that on the grave. This is the single greatest factor for my creation of duplicate memorials despite my habitual pre-memorial search to avoid such. I'd like to see memorials titled strictly by the name on the grave and the full name provided elsewhere in the memorial but, rules are rules and we'll have to live with the duplicates. I do appreciate F.A.G.'s efforts to prevent duplicates.
I have researched my ancestry and allied families for well over 25 years. Of considerable pleasure is researching their life and times rather than simply collecting names, dates and locations. The family surnames I primarily research are Bartley, Fowler, Brawner, Threadgill (Threlkeld and variations), Sanders, Allen, Langley, and Moss, from Maryland through the South to Texas. Of course, there are also the allied families joined along the way. I'll be glad to compare notes with others on any of these surnames.
Your respect and courtesy in the use of my email address for Find-A-Grave purposes only is much appreciated. DO NOT circulate it.
