Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Monday, October 7, from the Hering home, with Rev. H. A. Kossack of Arlington Heights, Illinois, officiating. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Jochim Hering was born July 9, 1842, in Germany. He immigrated to the United States in 1870, and settled in Davenport. He married Caroline Kistenmacher on September 27, 1878, in Davenport. Together they farmed, until the retired and moved to Durant.
Surviving are his wife, Caroline; one daughter, Adelia (Otto) Schlapkohl of Durant; four sons, Emil (Ida) Hering, Grover (Wilma) Hering and Gustav (Ledo) Hering, all of Stockton and Bernhardt (Margaret) Hering of Bakersfield, CA; one son-in-law, William Krone of Davenport; one daughter-in-law, Elfrieda (Hugo) Dietz; and 22 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Emma Krone and one son, William Hering.
