Caroline Hering, 79, of Durant, died Saturday, August 15, 1936, at her home in Durant after a three month illness of heart disease.
The body has been taken to the Diedrich Funeral Home in Durant and will return to the Hering home for services on Wednesday.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 19, at the Hering residence in Durant. The Rev. Fred J. Rolfe of Rock Island will officiate. Burial will be in the Durant Cemetery, Durant, Iowa.
Caroline Kistenmacher was born April 15, 1857, in Scott County, the daughter of Christian and Maria Kistenmacher. She married Jochim Hering on September 27, 1878, in Davenport. The couple farmed in the Durant area, until retiring in 1914, and moved to Durant. Mr. Hering died in 1929. Mrs. Hering was a lifelong resident of the Durant area.
Surviving are three sons, Grover and Gustav Hering, both of Stockton and Ben Hering of Oildale, CA; one daughter, Adelia (Otto) Schlapkohl of Durant; three sisters, Mrs. J. W. Schlapkohl of Durant and Mrs. Ben Stoltenberg and Emma Wunder, both of Davenport; 21 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, one daughter, Emma Krone and two sons, Emil and William Hering.
