George Calvin Tolbert, according to her 1907 Confederate widow's pension application, B.E. Tolbert claimed her husband died in the asylum in Tuscaloosa; no date was reported. Mrs. Tolbert and her witnesses claimed George C. Tolbert was in Company B; however, his name was not found on the microfilmed Compiled Service Records. Application witnesses included Barzilla Murphree of Winston County and G.N. Hatley of Blount County; pension was approved. However, Mrs. Tolbert's name was striken from the pension rolls in 1913. Her pension file does not contain the reason as usually cited by the War Department.
