WILLIAM STEFFEN

William J. Steffen, 73, of route 1, Kiel, died Monday afternoon at Holy Family Hospital, Manitowoc, where he had been a patient the past month.
A lifelong resident of Manitowoc County, he was born February 26, 1904, in the Town of Liberty, a son of John and Caroline Fehrenbach Steffen. He attended St. Gregory Parochial School in St. Nazianz. On October 9, 1934, he married Mary Schwoerer at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. They made their home in the town of Schleswig since their marriage. Mr. Steffen was employed by the Manitowoc County Highway Department for 39 years, retiring in 1965. He was a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, and its Holy Name Society.
Survivors are his widow, two daughters, Mrs. Alan Ade of Milwaukee and Mrs. Lloyd Gass of Two Rivers; four sons, Robert at home, Jerome of Green Bay, Gerald of Kiel, and William Jr. of Manitowoc; 10 grandchildren, and two brothers, Richard and Carl both of rural Kiel.
The funeral Mass will be at Holy Trinity Catholic Church preceded by family rites at Meiselwitz Funeral Home, Kiel. The Reverend Reginald Schrimpf, pastor will be celebrant. Burial will be in the parish cemetery.
