John Steffen Sr. died at his home, one mile north of Louis Corners, on Wednesday evening of last week, after several months' illness with tuberculosis.

The deceased was born near Milwaukee and reached the age of 61 years.

He is survived by his wife, nee Caroline Fehrenbach, and seven sons.

Mr. Steffen formerly resided on a farm two miles north of St. Nazianz. The funeral services took place on Saturday morning in the Cath. church at School Hill, with interment in the church cemetery. Rev. Michaels officiated.

–on April 12, 1889, lost this farm on foreclosure to the mortgage holder Anton Burkard –on Oct. 5, 1893 purchased 70 acres in the W1/2 of the SE1/4 of Section 31, Town of Liberty and created a farmstead at 16632 County Highway F
–on Jan. 12, 1915 sold this 70 acre farm to his son Nicholas Steffen
–died from “tuberculosis of lungs, 5 years”) –buried at Holy Trinity Catholic Cemetery in School Hill, Town of Meeme [marriage record Manitowoc 4-130] [death record Manitowoc 18-88]
