Norman J. Schad, age 73, of 914 Diane St., Chilton, died Saturday morning
August 9, 1997, at St. Lukes Hospital, Saginaw, Mich, after suffering a heart
attack while in Michigan attending a family wedding.
Funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, August 13, 1997, at Holy Trinity
Catholic Church, School Hill. Rev. Cyril Dickrell, S.D.S. will officiate with
burial in the parish cemetery.
He was born September 17, 1923, in the town of Schleswig, son of the late Joseph
and Theresa (Meyer) Schad. He attended Holy Trinity Grade School in School Hill.
On May 18, 1948, he married Delores Woelfel at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, New
Holstein. Norman and Delores owned and operated a dairy farm in the town of
Schleswig. Norman also worked for Tecumseh Engines in New Holstein for 10 years.
He is a member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church, School Hill, and was an usher.
Survivors include his wife, Delores; three daughters, Rosemary and David Bartel,
Utica, Mich., Donna Mae (fiance Kenneth J. Close Jr.) Basler, Hilbert, Ann Marie
and John Miklich, Windham, N.H.; three sons, Wilfred and Donna, Brillion, Ronald
and Jean, Manitowoc, Todd and Lori, Kohler; 12 grandchildren, Richard, Michele
Bartel, Dean (Traci) Schad, Susan (Sherman) Knott, Dale (Jennifer), Derrick Basler,
Elizabeth, Nicholas, Sylvia, Vincent Schad, Jonathan, Emma Jean Schad; three step-
grandchildren, Chris (Michelle) Bartel, Michelle (Robert) Wollersheim, Mike
(Monique) Mader; one great grandchild; four step-great-grandchildren; five brothers,
Bernard, Frank (Helen), Alois (Lillian), Raymond (Alice), Roman (Janice) Schad;
three sisters, Josephine (Edwin) Madson, Anita (Glenroy) Franzen; two sisters-in-law,
Arlene Schad, Pearl Woelfel; two brothers-in-law, Roland (Marie), Leroy (Janice)
Woelfel; a step-sister-in-law, Shrily (sic) (Robert) Fick. He was preceded in death
by one brother, Alfred Schad; two sisters, Gertrude Litz, Mary Schmitz; three
brothers-in-law, Frank Litz, Kenneth Schmitz. Alvin Woelfel; two sisters-in-law,
Lillian and Dorothy Schad; two grandchildren, Denise, Donald Basler; and one step-
grandchild, Melissa Bliske.
Friends may call at Meiselwitz-Vollstedt Funeral Home, 815 6th St., Kiel, from
4-9 p.m. Tuesday and at the church on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of
service. A wake service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
