Alois J. Schad, age 85, of St. Nazianz, died Monday evening, September 8, 2014 at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc. He was born on July 11, 1929 in the Town of Schleswig, son of the late Joseph & Theresa (Meyer) Schad. On April 14, 1951 he was united in marriage to Lillian Riesterer at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Lillian preceded him in death on August 25, 1997. Al worked for Tecumseh Products, New Holstein in the winter months and built silos for Ehnerts, Kiel in the summer for a number of years. He also work for Arps Co. as a welder for 3 years, worked for Allen V. Smith for 15 years and retired from Kohler Co. He was a member of St. Gregory Catholic Church, St. Nazianz. Al's greatest joy was spending time with his family. He also enjoyed being outdoors, especially deer hunting. He still holds the family record and bragging rights for his Trophy Deer. He was preceded in death by his wife Lillian, his parents, Joseph & Theresa Schad, two infant great grandchildren, Devon & Quinn, brothers & sisters, Bernard (Dorothy) (Lillian) Schad, Gertrude (Frank) Litz, Norman Schad, Frank Schad, infant, Joseph Schad Jr., Josephine (Edwin) Schaefer, Bernadette Madson, Raymond (Alice) Schad, Alfred “Fritz” (Arlene) Schad, Mary (Kenny) Schmitz, Anita Franzen, Roman Schad, mother-in-law & father-in-law, Robert “Rube” & Mary (Strop) Riesterer, and brothers-in-law, Norb (Charlotte) Riesterer, Bob (Eleanor) Riesterer and Art Riesterer. The funeral Mass for Al will be celebrated at 11:00 am Friday, September 12, 2014 at St. Gregory Catholic Church, St, Nazianz, with Rev. Patrick Nelson officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. Family and friends may call at the church on Thursday, September 11, 2014 from 3:00 pm until 7:00 pm and on Friday at the church from 9:30 am until 10:45 am when brief family rites will be held.
