Born in Florence County, he was a son of the late George and Amanda Lou King Anderson. He was a member of the Peniel Baptist Church, a retired farmer and was sales supervisor for the Timmonsville and Mullins tobacco market. He served in the state legislator from 1941 to 1952 and was employed by the U.S. Department of Agriculture until his retirement.
Surviving are sons, George T. Anderson of Greenville, Steven H. Anderson Jr. of Timmonsville and Philip S. Anderson of Fort Lauderdale, Fla.; brothers, Herbert, Mack, Ralph and George “Buster” Anderson of Timmonsville; a sister, Mrs. Lucille Gee of Timmonsville; grandchildren; and great-grandchildren.
Services will be held at 2:30 p.m. today in the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Timmonsville Rescue Squad.
