Sister Joanella Stoffel, age 86, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Saturday, September 9, 1995, at Holy Family Memorial Medical Center, Manitowoc.
Funeral Services were held at 10:30 a.m. today, Monday, September 11, 1995, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated by Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem. with burial in Holy Family Cemetery.
The former Margaret Stoffel was born March 27, 1909, in Appleton, Wis., daughter of the late John and Nellie Williams Stoffel. She entered the convent in 1929 and professed her vows in 1932. Sister Joanella earned a Bachelor of Arts Degree from Holy Family College, Manitowoc. Sister served as an elementary school teacher at St. Bonfiace, Manitowoc, St. Anna and Holy Rosary, New Holstein, St. John, Antigo, Holy Rosary, Kewaunee, Immaculate Conception, DePere, St. Joseph, Green Bay, St. Rose, Clintonville, St. Mary, Hilbert, and Corpus Christi, Sturgeon Bay, Wis. She also served in the Outreach Ministry Program at Xavier High School, Appleton, Wis. Since 1990, she has been residing at the Holy Family Convent.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Sister Theresa Ann Stoffel, Kaukauna, Sister Benigna Stoffel, Manitowoc, Therese McGinnis and Dolores and George Vander Heiden, Appleton, Wis.; three brothers and three sisters-in-law, Clemont Stoffel, Fred and Lorraine Stoffel, Herbert and Frances Stoffel, all of Appleton, and Ethel Stoffel, Brookfield, Wis.; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Visitation was held Sunday at the Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc. There was a prayer service at 7 p.m. at the Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, assisted with funeral arrangements.
