Comfort was travelling with his family to join the Mormons in Far West. Many of them took ill along the way. His father died of these illnesses. While waiting for the family to recover, Comfort had a fall from a horse. They did not know how serious his injuries were and began their travelling again. Three weeks after this fall from the horse Comfort died and was buried along the roadside.
