George Dewey Ellis, 74, of Muleshoe who farmed in the Reed area for many years before moving to the south plains died at 1:30 p.m. Monday, December 3, in Littlefield Hospital.
He was the father of Mrs. Jimmy Bowen. His death was unexpected, as he and Mrs. Ellis were expected lo come here Tuesday for a visit. Mr. Ellis, a native of Marthasville, La., had been a Muleshoe resident since 1963. He also had lived at Hereford after leaving this area. He was a retired farmer and recently had been engaged in land beautification. He was a member of the Church of Christ.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Emma Ellis of Muleshoe; a son, Darrell Ellis of Odessa; two daughters, Mrs. Bowen, (Ann), and Mrs. O.D. Holton (Noveta) of Boone, North Carolina; a brother, Sid Ellis of Mangum, Oklahoma; 13 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
