Sister Lyra Putzer, age 85, a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, died Saturday, October 7, 1995, at Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Funeral Servies will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, October 11, 1995, at Holy Family Convent Chapel. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated by Rev. Samuel D. Jadin, O.Praem. with burial in Holy Family Cemetery.
The former Mary Putzer was born June 2, 1910, in Oshkosh, Wis., daugther of the late Joseph and Camilla Poklasny Putzer. She entered the convent in 1924 and professed her vows in 1928. Sister Lyra earned a Bachelor of Music Degree and a Master of Music Degree from Chicago Conservatory, Chicago, Ill. Sister Lyra served as a teacher of music at St. Mary, Kaukauna, Holy Innocents, Holy Family Academy, Holy Family Conservatory, Manitowoc, St. Gabriel, Neenah, St. Joseph, St. Philip, Green Bay, Immaculate Conception, DePere, Wis.; St. Wilibrord, Chicago, Ill.; St. Anne, Escanaba, St. Francis Xavier, Petoskey, St. Francis de Sales, Manistique, Mich.; Guardian Angels, West Point, Neb.; St. Benedict, Cambridge, St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, Ohio. After her retirement from active ministry, she served as the liturgist and organist at San Damiano Convent, Slinger and St. Francis Convent, Manitowoc. Since 1994, she had been residing at the Motherhouse.
Survivors include the Francisan Sisters of Christian Charity; one sister, Sister Lyrine Putzer, OSF, Manitowoc; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Albert and Virginia Putzer, Edmund and Mary Putzer, Oshkosh. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. on Tuesday at Holy Family Convent. A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. at Holy Family Convent Chapel.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
