Joseph Putzer, 81, of 914 W. Fifth Ave., died Monday at 7:30 p.m. at Mercy Hospital, following an extended illness. He was born in Austria on Feb. 26, 1884, son of Mr. and Mrs. Michael Putzer, and came to Oshkosh with his parents when a child. He was married here on May 15, 1907, to Miss Camilla Poklasny, who preceded him in death in 1955. Mr. Putzer before retirement had been employed as a woodworker. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, Branch 1257 of Catholic Order of Foresters and Sacred Heart Society.

Surviving are two daughters, Sister Lyra OSF, Manitowoc, and Sister Lyrine OSF, Milwaukee; three sons, the Rev. Gregory Putzer SVS, in the state of Oregon, Edmund and Albert Putzer, Oshkosh; two brothers, John and Wenzel Putzer, Oshkosh; 10 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Services will be held Thursday at 10 a.m. at Poklasny Funeral Home, with solemn requim high mass at 10:30 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
