1st Wife: Andrena "Annie" Swanson (DOB: 9-25-1866) married March 20, 1889 in Wiota, Lafayette Co., WI. She was daughter of Hans and Caroline "Karen" (Hønsi) Swanson of Gratiot, WI. (Chris, his brother Ole, and his sister Christina all married Swanson siblings). Annie passed away in 1892.

2nd Wife: Mary Dorothy Eden Ose (DOB: 10-16-1860) married Dec. 12, 1895 in Wiota, Lafayette, WI. She was the daughter of Chris and Pernilla (Thune) Ose and immigrated from Norway to the US in 1874.

Children with Annie: Alvin and Harry Skolrood
Children with Mary: Myron Clifford and Ada P. Skolrood

Christian "Chris" Skolrood was born in June, 1856 in Norway. He was the first of ten children born to Mikal and Anna (Bragelibakken) Skolrood. On April 28, 1866, at the age of 10 his family immigrated from Norway on the ship "Anna Delius" and arrived in Quebec, Canada where they then journeyed to the large Norwegian settlement of Gratiot Village, Lafayette Co, WI. His family established a farm near the Hans Swanson family.

On March 20, 1889 he was married to Annie Swanson and they made their home in Gratiot. They had two sons, Alvin and Harry, who was born deaf. After his wife Annie died in 1892 his sons were raised by his sister, Christina and her husband (Annie's brother), Christian Swanson.

On Dec. 12, 1895 he married Mary Ose and they made their home in Gratiot. They had two children and he worked as a railroad bridge carpenter and a farmer. He died in 1925.

He was survived by second wife, Mary Skolrood; sons, Harry Skolrood and Myron Skolrood; and daughter, Mrs. Ada (Harry) Everson all of Gratiot, WI; brothers, Ole Skolrood of Gratiot, WI, and Martin Skolrood of Canada; and sisters, Mrs. Annie Hagen, Carrie Skolrood both of Gratiot, WI and Tillie Skolrood of Madison, WI.

He was preceded in death by first wife, Annie Skolrood in 1892; son, Alvin Skolrood in 1912; father, Mikal Skolrood in 1879; mother, Anna Skolrood in 1894; sisters, Mrs. Christina Swanson in 1917, Petro Skolrood in 1923; and brothers, John Skolrood in 1904 and Henry Skolrood in 1909.

Observing from records, the Skolrood family initially immigrated to the US in 1866 under the name of Mikalson; for the 1870 census they were listed as Christoforson and by the 1880 census were using the name Skolrood, which was probably the Norwegian farm area (Scholrud or Skaalerud) they were from in Norway.

The Hønsi name was Americanized by the family to Hanse (pronounced Hancey). Info from "Hønsi-Hanse Geneology - Records of the Descendants of Hans Gulbrandsen Hønsi in America", compiled by Fred A. Hanse in 1962.
