Obituary:
Vera “Mubs” (Beaver) Ellenberger, age 96, of Troy, died on Monday, December 19, 2005 at Broad Acres Nursing Home, Wellsboro. She was born August 17, 1909 in Troy, the daughter of Harry and Fannie Fogelman Beaver. Vera graduated from Troy High School in 1928. She then attended Mansfield College from 1928-1930, then she graduated from Ithaca College in 1932 with a Music Bachelor degree in Pipe Organ,, with courses at Westminster Choir College. Vera was a member of the Troy Methodist Church for over 60 years, where she was the organist form 1937 to 1955. She was a member of Troy Music Club, and taught organ and piano from 1934 to 1978. She was an organist for the Towanda Presbyterian Church from 1956 to 1990, an accompanist for Sayre Valley Chorus from 1964 to 1978. Vera is survived by son, J. Arden (Mary) Ellenberger of Troy; granddaughter, Toni Burtch of Wellsboro; two step granddaughters, Mrs. Roxanne (Lee) Bender of Waymart, PA, Mrs. Rebecca (Thomas) Briggs of Wellsboro; three step great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Vera was preceded in death by her husband, J. Victor Ellenberger and a daughter, Nola L. Burtch in February 2003. Family and friends are invited to a memorial service at the First United Methodist Church of Troy on Sunday, January 8, 2006 at 2:00 PM with the Reverend Richard Noggle and Reverend Garry Zuber officiating. Interment will be at Glenwood Cemetery at the convenience of the family. Memorials in Vera’s name may be made to the Troy United Methodist Church, Redington Ave., Troy, PA 16947. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Vickery Funeral Home, Inc. 110 West Main Street, Troy, PA 16947 (The Canton Independent-Sentinel, Canton, Pennsylvania, December 22, 2005).
