She was a graduate of Troy High School and Bloomsburg University, where she received her bachelor’s degree in business education. She was a business teacher at Cowanesque Valley High School and Elkland High School, retiring in 1995. Following her retirement ,she attended Fingerlakes School of Massage and started her own massage therapy business locally. She was a member of the River Valley Country Club and enjoyed traveling, cooking, baking and laughing and was an avid golfer. She particularly enjoyed fine cuisine, enjoyed life and her many friends, and recently had obtained her motorcycle license.
Surviving are her mother of Troy; daughters, Toni Burtch and friend, Randall Hoeppner of Wellsboro, Rebecca and Thomas Briggs of Wellsboro, Rocanne and Lee Bender of Waymart, Pa., and Claudia Bowers of Honesdale, Pa.; a brother, Arden Ellenberger and friend, Mary Buck, of Troy; a very special friend, Mouseketeer; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; family friend Michael Schwarz; and many other lifelong special friends.
She was predeceased by her father and grandchildren, Cory Abbott and Melissa Mitchell.
Friends and relatives are invited to Nola’s life celebration on Monday, Feb. 24, from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. at at the Tussey-Mosher funeral Home, a “Life Celebration Home,” 139 Main St., Wellsboro. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery, Troy. A memorial service will be held Saturday, March 1, 2003, at 1 p.m. at River Valley Country Club, Westfield, Pa., with Dale Miller officiating. If desired, memorials may be sent to the Westfield Public Library, Westfield, Pa.
