Found in The State 07 January 1986: Miss May Sanford Lachicotte, 90, of the Methodist Home, died Monday. Plans will be announced by Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, Columbia.

Found 08 January 1986: Services for Miss May Sanford Lachicotte will be held at 11 a.m. today at Dunbar Funeral Home, Gervais Street Chapel, conducted by the Revs. Douglas A. Bowling and Michael C. Bell. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Harry Huffman, Robert Beamer, James Feagle, William Brumback and Eddie Gaines. Miss Lachicotte, 90, died Monday. Born in Columbia, she was a daughter of the late Philip Howard and Belle Hope Lachicotte. She was a life member of Washington Street United Methodist Church and sang, in the church choir. She played the piano for a children's Sunday school class and became superintendent of the Beginners Department in 1928. Surviving are a brother, Louis Lachicotte of Columbia; her daughter-in-law, Coralie Lachicotte; and nieces and nephews. (Note; received in an edit request: Please change May's obituary in regard to Coraline to be her sister-in-law instead of daughter-in-law as Coraline is married to May's brother, Louis.)

In the Columbia City Directory, she is listed as the V-Pres of the family business P H Lachicotte & Co., 1424 Main St. (jewelers).
