Per his death certificate found on Ancestry.com: he was a son of Phillip R. Lachicotte born in France and Mary J. Miscally, born in S.C. He was married at the time of his death but his certificate does not name his spouse. He was a jeweler. He died at home at 1512 Laurel St. of myocardial insufficiency and he also had tuberculosis. The informant was Mrs. P. H. Lachicotte of Columbia, S.C.

Found in The State 07 November 1928: Funeral services for Philip Howard Lachicotte, Columbia's oldest jeweler, will be held at his residence, 1512 Laurel street, at 4 o'clock this afternoon. Services will be conducted by the Rev. A. L. Gunter, pastor of Washington Street Methodist church, of which Mr. Lachicotte was long a member. Interment will follow in Elmwood cemetery. Mr. Lachicotte was taken sick six weeks ago and has been confined to his home since that time. However, his friends did not realize he was dangerously ill until only a short while before his passing yesterday morning. All the jewelry stores in Columbia will close this afternoon out of respect to the memory of Mr. Lachicotte. Born in Charleston, January 18, 1856, Mr. Lachicotte moved to Columbia in 1883, entering the jewelry business shortly thereafter at 1424 Main street, where he did business to the time of his death. He was senior member of the firm of P. H. Lachicotte & Company. He was recognized as a man of strict integrity and was an artist in his line of work. He was a musician of no mean ability; was of a quiet demeanor and of a kindly disposition. He is survived by his widow and three children, Miss Erminee Lachicotte, Miss Mae Lachicotte and Louis H. Lachicotte, all of Columbia. Mrs. Lachicotte was before marriage, Miss Belle H. Davis, daughter of Capt. and Mrs. Edmund Davis of Columbia. Four brothers, St Julien Lachicotte, Hal A. Lachicotte and Clarence Lachicotte, all of Waverly Mills, and Walter B. Lachicotte of New York City, also survive.
