Memorial services were held at 2 p.m. Saturday in St. Andrews Episcopal Church with the Rev. Father Michael Morgan officiating. His body was sent to Bozeman for cremation.
He was born on April 4, 1904 on the family ranch near Clyde Park, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Dudley S. Gilbert. He received his education in the Clyde Park schools and worked on the family ranch. On November 2, 1940, he married Eleanor Dailey in Livingston. They ranched on Rock Creek near Clyde Park until 1976, when the death of Mrs. Gilbert and ill health forced his retirement. He was a member of St. Andrews Episcopal Church.
Survivors include his step-mother, Helen Sasse Gilbert of Vancouver, Wash., three sons, Alfred "Sam" of Bozeman, Edmund of Clyde Park and David of Sullivan, Mo.; three brothers, Herbert of Vancouver, Wash., C. Lester of Clyde Park and Walter of Livingston; one sister, Mary Stephenson of Fairfax, Va.; three half-sisters: Jean Andrew of Hoquiam, Wash., Joan Rose of Washougal, Wash., and Kay Gill of Edmonds, Wash., and six grandchildren.
Arrangements were made by the Lowry Funeral Home. Organist was Dorothy Fish. The large congregation of family and friends sand "The Old Rugged Cross" and "Abide With Me."
