Sr. Clementia Hennes, age 90, a Franciscan Sister of Christian Charity
of Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, died Sunday morning, July 22, 2001,
at Holy Family Convent.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, 2001, at
Holy Family Convent Chapel. Officiating at the mass of Christian Burial
will be Rev. Pius Yobuta with burial to follow at Holy Family Convent
Cemetery, Manitowoc.
She was born April 12, 1911, in Kenosha, Wisconsin, daughter of the late
Joseph and Eva Boresch Hennes. Sister Clementa earned a Bachelor of Arts
degree from St. Norbert College, De Pere, Wis., and a Master of Arts
Degree from Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska.
She entered the Convent in 1927 and professed her vows in 1930. Sister
Clementia served as a teacher and/or principal at St. Mary, Rhinelander,
St. Wendel, Cleveland, St. Therese, Appleton, St. Philip, Green Bay, St.
Mary, Kaukauna, St. Mary Brillion, St. Joseph, Kellnersville, Catholic
Memorial, Waukesha, Wisconsin; St. Agnes, Mingo Junction, SS Peter &
Paul, Wellston, Ohio, San Roque, Santa Barbara, California.
She also served as Director of the Central Region, Local Director of
Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc, and Parish Minister at St. Pius X, Appleton.
After her retirement from active ministry, she performed a variety of
services at San Damiano Convent, Slinger, St. Paul Manor, Kaukauna, and
Holy Family Convent, Manitowoc.
Since 2000, she has been a resident of St. Rita Health Center, Manitowoc.
Survivors include the Franciscan Sisters of Christian Charity, nieces,
nephews, other relatives and friends.
Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. (TONIGHT) Monday, July 23, 2001, at Holy
Family Convent, Manitowoc, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m.
The Pfeffer Funeral Home, Manitowoc, is assisting with funeral arrangements.
