Elizabeth Ann Buckbee was born November 19, 1869 in Missouri. She was the daughter of John Buckbee and Elizabeth "Elsey" George. Her father, John, served in the Civil War with her brother, James-Company "K" of the 9th W.Va. Infantry. She was born shortly after her father moved the family from Meigs Co., Ohio to a farm near St. Joseph, Missouri. In the spring of 1873 they relocated to a farm near Topeka and arrived in Rice Co., Kansas in the spring of 1874.

Elizabeth had eight siblings: James, Mary Margaret, Reuben, Benjamin F., John D., George S., William Perry and Flora Jane.

Elizabeth married W. F. Heaton, August 21, 1887 at McPherson, Kansas. They had two children. Rosettia "Rosa" May Heaton, born 24 May 1888 and Eugene Heaton - born December 12, 1890.

Marriage records show Elizabeth married Ulysses D'Spain on November 11, 1905 at Lewis Co., Wa. Ulysses listed his father as James D'Spain and his mother, Mary Andicott. Elizabeth listed her father as John Buckbee and her mother as Elsey Conley. Elizabeth stated in an affidavit in 1923 "Mother was born Elsie Conley. I do not know the explanation of it, but after they came to the United States the name became known as George." Daughter Grace was born August 2, 1913 at St. Helens, Oregon.

The 1900 census taken on June 4, 1900 in Columbia Co., Oregon shows John Buckbee (her father) was living in the residence. His age was 76 and widowed. In an affidavit it is stated that he died in Oregon.

Part of a statement given by Elizabeth on April 24, 1923 in same affidavit regarding her brother and his widow, said her husband was a foreman in construction of building roads for the government.

Ulysses died September 21, 1951 at Clackamas, Oregon.
Elizabeth died on February 11, 1960 at Marion, Oregon.
