Mary E. Bernhard, 86, Bradenton, died Jan. 10, 2000.

She was born July 24, 1913, in Perry County, Ohio, and came to Manatee County 43 years ago from Columbus, Ohio. She worked for Ace Hardware in Bradenton for 3 1/2 years. She was a member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church.

Survivors include a daughter, Betty Lou Hertzog of Bradenton; three sons, Robert of Columbus, Dale "Frank" of Venice and John of Bradenton; two sisters, Lucy Keffer and Betty Burchfield, both of Columbus; a brother, Robert Green of Delaware, Ohio; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

A service will be at 1 p.m. Thursday at Brown and Sons Funeral Home, 26th Street Chapel. Burial will be in Palmetto.
