The native and lifelong resident of Toombs County was retired from Amoco Fabric in Hazlehurst with over 22 years of service and was a veteran of World War II.
Survivors include his former wife, Geraldine Galbreath Halligan; four daughters, Glenda Anne Barwick and Shirley Elaine Halligan, both of Vidalia, Connie Dean Hand, Macon, and Nancy Michelle Hall, Atlanta; five sons, Alex Sherman, James Edward, Charles Michael, Carl Hugh and Jack Larry Halligan, all of Vidalia; one sister, Jean Taylor, Decatur; three brothers, Prince Halligan, Vidalia, Troy Halligan, Savannah, and Jim Halligan, Macon; 11 grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Tuesday, June 1, 1999 at 2:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Murchison Funeral Home with the Reverend H.G. Ridgdill officiating. Interment followed in the Center United Methodist Church Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Danny Taylor, Willis Sears, Jim L. Halligan, Chuck Foskey, Mike Harrison, Benjamin Jernigan and Travis Darden.
