Mary was born on October 14, 1856 in Blue River, Wisconsin, the second child of Herman Rasque and Sybilla/Sebilla Schuffening.

Her 11 brothers and sisters are: Agnes (1855-1926); Constance (1858-1910); Margaret/Maggie (1861-1903); Henrietta (1863-1940); Helen Elizabeth (1865-1874); Sibilia "Belle" A. (1867-1940); Herman J. (1870-1949); Catherine (Katie) (1872-1918); Mathias "Matt' John (1874-1936); Josephine (1876-1955) and William (1879-1879).

Mary met and married (in 1883) Joseph Gabel (born Dec. 1857); father Christian Gabel and mother Elizabeth Gabel. They had at least the following children: Herman M. (b~1886); Leo(b.~1888); William (b~1890); Joseph (b~1893); and Renabell "Irene" (b1895). Joseph was a farm laborer. Mary is buried in Oglesby, Illinois.
