A lifelong resident of Lee County, Virginia, she was a member of Jonesville First Baptist Church and the Ladies Auxiliary at Wellmont Lee Regional Medical Center in Pennington Gap, Virginia. Gladys worked for the Lee County School Board for 48 years.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph E. Orr, Sr.; her parents, Paris and Lola Reece Hines; five sisters, Alice Walters, Beulah True, Eula Walters, Nina Pierce, and Lucille Burgan; and one brother, Jack Hines.
Surviving are:
One son: Joseph E. Orr, Jr. and wife, Jodi of White Pine, Tennessee
One granddaughter: Nikki Hines and husband, Wilton of Mount Olive, North Carolina
Two great granddaughters: Anna and Emma Hines of Mount Olive, North Carolina
Two brothers: Robert P. Hines, Jr. of Shawnee, Kansas and Ray Hines of Meridian, Mississippi
Four sisters: Eleanor Corbin of Naples, Florida; Verna Gibson of Pennington Gap, Virginia; Jean Scott of Xenia, Ohio; and Vivian Garrett of Louisville, Kentucky
The family will receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Jonesville First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Monday at the Jonesville First Baptist Church with the Rev. Mike Humfleet officiating.
Graveside services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday at Lee Memorial Gardens in Woodway, Virginia. Family and friends are asked to meet at the cemetery prior to services.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Jonesville First Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 328, Jonesville, Virginia 24263.
