John M Burns, Sr husband of Mrs. Margaret C (Dugan) Burns of 1024 State Street died Thursday after a long illness. He was born in Springfield, son of the late Michael and Ellen (Donoghue) Burns and lived in this city during his entire life. He graduated from Cathedral high School with the class of 1901 and later attended Holy Cross College. For many years he was employed at the plant of the Smith & Wesson Co. Besides his wife he leaves four sons, William H of Holyoke, Thomas F and Robert M of this city and John m Burns, Jr, a member of the Springfield Fire Department; two daughters, Mrs. Wesley S Potter and Mrs. John Bosini, both of Springfield; 12 grandchildren and one great grandchild. Funeral services will be at the State Street parlors of the T P Sampson Co Saturday morning at 8:15, with solemn requiem high mass in Holy Family Church at 9, Burial will be in the family lot at St Michael’s Cemetery.
