George Clarke was born in Memphis TN 10-17-1917. He was the son of Nathan and Emma Rowzee Clarke. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II and the U.S. Air Force during the Korean Conflict. After his military service, he completed his education, receiving a Ph.D. in History from UNC Chapel Hill. He taught for nine years at Presbyterian College in Clinton SC and for 19 years at West Georgia College in Carrollton GA.
