Mr. James Boatright, 83, of Salem, died February 24, 1989 at the Salem Care Center in Salem.

He was born November 12, 1905 in Leadwood to the late John T. Boatright and Elizabeth A. 'Lizzie' Todd Boatright.

In 1925, Mr. Boatright was united in marriage to Leoma Decker, who survives. He was a member of the Chestnut Ridge Baptist Church.

He was preceded in death by a son, Horace G. Boatright; a brother, Richard Boatright.

Other survivors include two sons, Bill Boatright of Salem and Norman Dale Boatright of Farmington; three daughters, Betty Lynn McClanahan of St. Louis, Mary Ann Martin of St. Charles and Carol LaDon Cluck of St. Charles; three sisters, Rose Bell of Bismarck, Zue Maurer of St. Louis and Bessie Bruegman of Florida; 19 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were held February 27, at the Cozean Chapel in Farmington, with Rev. Preston Hunt officiating. Burial will follow in the Chestnut Ridge Cemetery.

Locan arrangements were under the direction of the Cozean Funeral Home in Farmington. Other arrangements were handled by James & Gahr Funeral Home of Salem.
