A funeral service is scheduled for 2:00 pm Monday, October 1, 2012, at High Rock Baptist Church with Rev. Darrell Summey, Rev. David Hunt and Junior Summey officiating. Burial will follow at Pierce's Chapel Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery.
A native of Randolph County, NC, Rev. Swaney was born June 9, 1931. He was the son of the late Reuben Curtis Swaney and Minnie Corinth Summey Swaney. Rev. Swaney was the minister at High Rock Baptist Church for 38 years. He loved going to tractor pullings and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Rev. Swaney is survived by his wife, Mary Ferguson Swaney, of the home; son, Clinton Swaney and wife, Kathy, of Denton; daughters, Kathy Hulin and husband, R.C., of Lexington, Lisa Swaney Loflin and husband, Randy, of Denton; sisters, Edith Small and husband, Max, of Asheboro, Ollie Ruth Ferguson, of Liberty; brothers, J.B. Swaney and wife, Betty, of Trinity, Troy Swaney, of Lexington; grandchildren, Kira Yates and husband, David, of Denton, Katrina Jordan and husband, Bill, of Youngsville, Christopher Swaney and wife, Emily, of Farmer; great grandchild, Isaac Yates, Luke Yates and Gray Swaney.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm Sunday, September 30, 2012, at Ridge Funeral Home and other times at the home.
