DENTON— Mr. Glenn Curtis Swaney, 79, of Bescher Chapel Road, died Monday, Feb. 21, 2005, at Randolph Hospital in Asheboro.

The funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Pleasant Union Community Church, conducted by the Rev. Lee Roy Hunt and the Rev. Ray Swaney. Burial in the church cemetery.

Mr. Swaney was born on March 17, 1925, in Chatham County to Ruben and Minnie Summey Swaney. He was a self-employed sawmill operator and farmer and attended Pleasant Union Community Church. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He was preceded in death by brothers, Paul Swaney and Baxter Swaney and sisters, Ruby Robbins and Blonzie Carter.

He is survived by his wife, Martha Trotter Swaney of the home; daughters, Carol Swaney Miller and husband Paul of Mebane and Judy Swaney Ray and husband Jim of Robbins; brothers, Cletus Swaney and J.B. Swaney, both of Trinity, Roy Lee Swaney of Thomasville, Troy Swaney and Ray Swaney, both of Lexington; sisters, Edith Small of Asheboro and Ollie Ruth Ferguson of Liberty; grandchildren, Sterling Miller and wife Amy, Paula Miller-Joyce and husband Eric and James Ray Jr., and wife Julie; great-grandchildren, Tristen and Jesse Miller.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at Briggs Funeral Home in Denton.
